Nobbings And I

June 21st, 2010 posted by admin

I remember many things about my time at school. The thing is, while everyone I know remembers good things (like how they all bundled on poor Derek Nobbings after school; and I promise you Nobbings really did and hopefully does exist–Nobbings was not me!) I remember things like particularly boring business studies lessons. One of the things I remember most vividly was doing a fake ‘stock check audit thing’ of the supplies cupboard. I was stuck with Nobbings’s best friend, Dave Trump (guess why he was called that–).

Anyway, I’m getting away from the point. The point was that yesterday I came across the following post.

And this post brought me back to the harrowing days of being locked in with Trump and his horrible gaseous manifestations…doing an awful and pointless audit. You can imagine that the last thing I wanted to do was read it–

But I did read it, I sort of felt I owed it to myself, seeing as it was to do with saving energy and how that is important. And it turned out to be pretty worthwhile, actually.

The sad truth is that most of us don’t know how much energy we are really using. We have some vague idea based on what we know, but the truth is that energy expulsion is much more complicated than we think. The true figure depends on a number of factors that must all be taken in to account and looked at as a whole. It simply isn’t enough to say “I don’t drive so I don’t waste much energy!”anymore, because in all honesty, do you know someone who doesn’t own a dishwasher?
