posted by admin in Uncategorized

The EU is planning to introduce black boxes in commercial vehicles with an aim to reduce the deaths toll on the roads throughout the union by half within the coming decade. The European Commission’s latest Action Plan for road safety included proposals to use the black metal boxes, referred to as event data recorders. The Commission spent about 4.2 million pounds to to test the effectiveness of the technology in a scheme called “Project Veronica”.

Nobbings And I

posted by admin in Uncategorized

I remember many things about my time at school. The thing is, while everyone I know remembers good things (like how they all bundled on poor Derek Nobbings after school; and I promise you Nobbings really did and hopefully does exist–Nobbings was not me!) I remember things like particularly boring business studies lessons. One of the things I remember most vividly was doing a fake ‘stock check audit thing’ of the supplies cupboard. I was stuck with Nobbings’s best friend, More

Skiing is not right for everyone

Skiing is not right for everyone

I love to wakeboard and to water ski so I figured I would love to ski on the slopes. A couple of my friends are very avid skiers and decided to take me with them on a club med ski holiday to let me give it a try. One of my friends luckily wore the same size boots as I needed so she let me borrow all of her gear.

We got to the resort and I was so excited. More

We all buy things that our kids don’t need or won’t use.

We all buy things that our kids don't need or won't use.

The first four days my son was home for the hospital he did not sleep. As a single mother living on my own it was very difficult. I was so fearful of something happening to him that I too did not sleep for four days. It drove me to the point of tears nonstop until finally, out of the blue he fell asleep for longer than five minutes. After about an hour of making sure he was really asleep I More

Favourite Schmavourite

Having a favourite toy I could understand. A favourite film, yes, why not? Favourite running shoes, of course. But having a favourite colour? That was never something I was particularly big on. I couldn’t ever see the point in it, and there was a point to having a favourite anything else, so why shouldn’t there be a point in the case of this? What does it mean? I thought. Why should I waste my time thinking about it? All More

Numeracy was something I avoided like the plague at school. As soon as I was old enough to own a calculator I owned three. I kept one at all places where numeracy might possibly rear its ugly head. Just to be sure, at school I would tape my calculator to the underside of my desk. That way I would always be prepared for those tricky sums.

But one day it wasn’t there. Someone had stolen it! So there I was, More

Growing Pains

Human beings are a very diverse bunch. All shapes and sizes and colours etc, ones with Locum vet jobs, and ones who profess to be able to read the minds of others. About the only annoying thing about being human is having a face: either you are blessed and have a young face, or you are like me, and it’s old before its time–

I first realized I had an ‘old looking face’ when I was seven. I recall More

Indeed, Not A Sausage

I am a gent. Or, as some may remember, a Gentleman. That is, not a brute, but a respectful man with more than a few bow-ties in his attic. I know not a sausage of Skin rejuvenation or what ’emo'music is. And, come to think of it, When did it become OK to lie about what time you would be somewhere, or how long it would take you to do a set task? In my early days, as a young More

Greatest Question There Ever Was Bar None, Almost

Why, on earth, does the sound of a woman with high heels walking along a hard floor sound like a horse’s hoofs?

The shame of the high heels maker people! Do they know the laughter, the embarrassment and the shame they are causing on a daily basis? Take this, for example:

Last week I went to a parents’ evening. I hate being a parent at times like this, mainly because I hated school and I can’t help but project the More

Welcome to my Mind!

So I figure that this first post is really where I sit down and say welcome to my blog. A little bit about myself, right, well. I am currently a freelance illustrator (rock and roll, I know) and I would really like to break into the world of writing. So I thought to myself, ‘what better practice than creating a blog?’ So here it is, my very own crack at a blog.

I also feel that I should take this opportunity to thank all of my wonderful technical friends for their amazing help in creating and putting up this site. Being in classical illustration I don’t really go for the computer thing much. So I really owe this entire site to you guys. Thanks again.

As for the rest of you, well I really do hope that you enjoy reading this blog…
